My passion for drumming started 35 years ago.
I feel very fortunate to have studied with some of the best drum teachers:
• Herve Marie at Ecole Tama-Paiste in France.
• Paul Elliott, Brian Green and Pete Cater at Drumtech College where I studied for 3 years and graduated with a Bmus in popular music performance.
• Bob Armstrong, one of the highest regarded drum teachers in the UK for a total of 8 years.
Over the years, I have also regularly seeked knowledge and inspiration from top pro session drummers (Gabor Dornyei, Davide Giovannini among others) who are able to share valuable insights in terms of technique, concepts or styles.
As a professional drummer and session player, I have performed and recorded in a wide variety of musical styles in clubs as well as large venues and festivals across the UK and Europe.
These performances, to name just a few, include two Glastonbury festivals, the Jazz Cafe, the Royal Festival Hall with a cast of 500 young singers as well as Ronnie Scotts and Pizza express jazz clubs in Soho with my original funk band the Soul Immigrants.
I have toured the UK with La Vida Santana, one of the best Santana tribute bands in Europe and performed and recorded with jazz bands including the 1224 project, the Dylan Kay trio and the Nick Rixen trio.
I have also had the great pleasure to open for several legendary musicians including Steve Cropper, Dr Feelgood, Sonny Landreth, Martha High and Fred Wesley (James Brown, The JB’s)
Fred Wesley’s amazing playing can be heard on the Soul Immigrants album “The Hustle is On” released in Japan on P Vine records for which all drums and percussion have been recorded in my Limehouse studio.
